Pools Youth Team will look to keep pace at the top of the Youth Alliance League table on Saturday when they make the trip to face Notts County (12noon kick-off).
The high-flying youngsters have lost just once in their last five games and a creditable 0-0 draw with Grimsby Town last weekend saw them stay within touching distance of the top.
Pools sit fifth in a congested North East Division table but remain only four points behind leaders Bradford City ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures.
“Last week we played well and could have had all three points,” explained John Hewitson.
“We’re a few points behind the leaders but we’re still within touching distance so even though we’re away from home on Saturday we will be going there looking for the win.
“The lads are all confident in their own abilities, it’s just about putting everything together on the day and taking more of our chances.
“We’ve created plenty in recent games and perhaps not had that killer touch so we need to try and add that to our game more in the second half of the season.”
Liam Pritchard remains sidelined with a fractured collarbone, while Harrison Webster is also set to miss this weekend’s game with a hamstring injury sustained in training.
Saturday’s fixture takes place at Highfields Playing Fields on University Boulevard in Lenton and entry to all supporters is free.
