Former Pools star Len Johnrose is set to be the guest of honour at an upcoming event organised by the Supporters’ Trust to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease.
Johnrose scored 16 goals in 81 appearances for Pools between 1992 and 1993 during a career which saw him star for the likes of Bury, Burnley and Swansea City.
Last August, Johnrose revealed that he has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, a degenerative condition which affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord, causing muscles to stiffen, weaken and waste.
Since then, the father-of-three has thrown himself – quite literally – in to the fight to raise funds and awareness of the disease, in December taking part in an amazing charity parachute jump.
Having visited some of his other previous clubs, Johnrose will be a guest at our game against Dover Athletic on Saturday 9th March, following which there is a special event being held at Hartlepool Catholic Club.
A race night is planned, with entertainment from highly-rated comedian Lea Roberts as part of the event to raise funds for the Len Johnrose Trust and the MND Association.
Tickets for the night, which starts at 7pm, are on sale now priced at just £10 and that includes pie and peas.
