Jonathan Gibbon-Hayes will aim to get off to a perfect start as the new Manager of Pools Women’s Team on Sunday when they make the trip to Rotherham United (2pm kick-off).
The new boss ran the rule over his players in a first training session on Thursday evening and now he wants them to go and express themselves against The Millers this weekend.
Rotherham have struggled so far in their first season in the NERWFL Premier Division and currently lie second-bottom having won just two of their 13 games this term.
However, Gibbon-Hayes insists that third-placed Pools can't afford to take anything for granted as they look to keep pressure on South Shields who sit one point above them in the table.
“It was a fantastic first training session with the girls on Thursday,” he revealed.
“I am really looking forward to seeing how they can implement some of the things we worked on when they got out for Sunday’s game now.
“Andy (Hetherington, Assistant Manager) and I have been very impressed with the quality in the squad so we will go there looking to collect all three points.”
Gibbon-Hayes will have to work without the services of Caitlin Bates and Lottie Portas who are both set to miss this weekend’s game.
The fixture is being played at Rotherham’s Roundwood Pavilion and is free entry for all supporters.
