We turn our attentions to Tuesday night’s action with a full and in-depth preview of our National League trip to The Kuflink Stadium.
Ebbsfleet United v Pools
Tuesday 19th February 2019, 7.45pm
The Kuflink Stadium
Ebbsfleet United have given themselves real hope of snatching a play-off spot on the back of an excellent run of form in the National League over recent months.
The Kent outfit were well off the pace at the start of November but the arrival of Garry Hill to replace Daryl McMahon as boss as coincided with a real upturn in results.
Back-to-back defeats to Sutton United and Solihull Moors definitely stung but they responded magnificently at the weekend when a goal three minutes from time secured an excellent 2-1 win at Harrogate Town.
Squad and staff numbers have been reduced in recent times as the club tightens its belt but, if Hill is able to use the little bit of wiggle room he has to bring in some new recruits, then they could yet be part of the play-off shake-up for the second season in succession.
Danny Kedwell has continued to terrorise National League defences up and down the country despite turning 35 before the current campaign got underway.
The veteran striker joined Ebbsfleet United just over four years ago and has an astonishing goalscoring record after helping them first win promotion from National League South and then prosper at the higher level.
Kedwell already has a dozen National League strikes to his name this term and the big front man will need to be well marshalled by Pools on Tuesday night if he returns to the starting eleven.
Head To Head
Tuesday’s game will be the fourth meeting between the two sides and Ebbsfleet have won all of the previous three encounters without so much as conceding a goal.
The Fleet did the double over Pools last term, easing to a 3-0 win on home turf in November before earning three points with a 1-0 win at The Vic in February, which they duly repeated on their most recent visit back in August.

Will Finnie will take charge of his first-ever Pools game on Tuesday night when he is the man in the middle for our trip to Ebbsfleet United.
The official is still in his first season on the National League’s list of referees and has so far presided over 15 games at this level during 2018/19.
His most recent appointment came at Havant & Waterlooville at the end of last month when he saw them play out a goalless draw with Dover Athletic.
Finnie has flashed five red card so far this term, including one on his last trip to The Kuflink Stadium in September when he sent-off Ebbsfleet defender Kenny Clark.
You can listen to full live commentary of Saturday’s game with Mark Simpson on Pools PlayerHD from 7.35pm.
Pools PlayerHD’s live coverage is available on any computer, laptop or tablet anywhere in the world and you can even listen in on your smartphone too.
Cash turnstiles will be in operation ahead of Tuesday night’s game at The Kuflink Stadium.
Ebbsfleet United are rated 17/20 favourites for the win on Tuesday night with Pools installed at a price of 3/1 for three points and a draw can be backed at odds of 23/10.
