Club Saddened By Eric Harrison's Passing

The Club was saddened to learn of the passing of former player Eric Harrison at the age of 81.

Eric was on the books at Victoria Park between 1964 and 1966, making 90 appearances for the Club and scoring four goals.

He also played for Halifax, Barron and Southport but it was his move in to coaching which really helped him make his name in the game as he went on to enjoy great success at Manchester United.

Taking over the reins as Youth Team Coach at Old Trafford in 1981, he led the club’s youngsters to FA Youth Cup triumphs in 1992 and 1995.

He is also regarded as one of the key factors in the development of United’s famed ‘Class of 92’, nurturing the talents of the likes of David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville.

The thoughts and sincere condolences of everyone connected with Hartlepool United is with Eric’s family and friends at this time.
