Craig Hignett has said he hopes as many fans as possible come along to this year’s Academy Sportsman’s Dinner at which he is Guest Speaker later this month.
The Pools boss has long been a popular act on the After Dinner scene and he’s looking forward to sharing some stories from his career at the event at Hartlepool Corporation Club on Friday 22nd February.
Hignett is a highly-rated speaker who tells some hilarious tales about his time as a player for the likes of Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough during which he shared dressing rooms with some of the most high-profile names in the game.
“It’s all money towards a great cause,” explained Hignett.
“There will have to be a restructuring of the Academy so everything raised from this event will go towards that.
“We want to be a community club and we want to see as many of the local kids as possible coming through and playing for us.”
As well as enjoying Hignett’s speech, Pools fans will be able to enjoy further entertainment from brilliant comedian Mick Monroe on what is sure to be a fantastic evening.
Tickets – priced at just £15 which includes pie and peas – are already selling well for the event but there’s still time to buy yours and help with our fundraising efforts.
Every penny made on the night will go directly to the Club’s Academy and the drive to bring through the next generation of talent to play in the blue and white stripes.
