minutes in to extra-time to hand Dave Challinor's men a 1-0 victory and set-up
a Third Round visit to Oxford United in the New Year.“I think we fully deserved the win,” Hawkes told Pools TV.
“We tried to use the fact they had a long journey back to tryand press them high up the pitch and we got a good result in the end.
“The conditions were tough with the wind blowing all over andit was quite a tight affair but we battled through it and got the win.
“I've just tried to
shoot across the keeper – a lot of the lads are trying to say it was a cross
but what are they like?“It sat up nice and it came off my foot cleanly and as soon as I have looked up it was going in to the top corner – it's been a while since I scored at home so I'm really happy.”
