There Is Fight In This Team - Featherstone

1 December 2019

Nicky Featherstone insisted that Pools never felt like they

were out of the cup tie despite falling 2-0 down against Exeter City at St

James' Park on Sunday.

The midfielder's sensational thirty-yard blockbuster on 73

minutes handed Pools a lifeline and they grabbed it with both hands when Nicke

Kabamba forced in an equaliser six minutes later to secure a replay.

Featherstone insisted that he wasn't surprised at the

reaction from the players afterwards and the in-form star also talked us

through his incredible goal.

“It just came to me on the edge of the box and I managed toget a really clean strike,” he told Pools TV.

“Obviously I was right behind it and saw it all the way in

and it hasn't left the top corner luckily for me and luckily for the team

because we now we get the chance to take Exeter back to our place.

“It's a great feeling to hit a ball like that but you don't

get a chance to think about it too much because our focus was all on trying to

go on and get the equaliser.

“We never got going really in the first half but we spoke about it half time and we know there are loads of goals in this team – and there is loads of team spirit and fight too.

“We never felt out of the game even though we weredisappointed to be 2-0 down.

“We've got a lot of personalities and we never give up – it would be nice not to give us too much to do in future, but we know we have plenty to get us back in games when we need it.”
