Preview: Pools v Dagenham & Redbridge

20 December 2019

Hartlepool United v Dagenham & Redbridge
National League
Saturday 21st December, 3pm
Victoria Park

In Opposition

Dagenham & Redbridge enjoyed an encouraging start to the new campaign and were up among the play-off contenders in October on the back of a run of 11 games without defeat.

Peter Taylor's men have struggled to find the same

consistency in recent weeks and they arrive at Victoria Park on Saturday

looking to halt a sequence of four consecutive National League losses.

A replay win over Sutton United in the FA Trophy on Tuesday

night will have no doubt boosted morale as they head to the North-East hoping

to complete a league double over Pools.

One To Watch

With Angelo Balanta ruled out through injury, Daggers boss Peter Taylor moved in to the loan market to sign front man Ben House on a temporary deal from Reading.

The 20-year-old hit the ground running when he fired a brace

in their 6-1 rout of Aldershot Town and it will be hoped that he can remain on

the goal trail as Dagenham look to get back to their best form.

An industrious performer who is comfortable as a main

centre-forward or just in behind, House will hope to extend his stay at

Victoria Road beyond the New Year if things continue to go well.

Head To Head

Saturday's game will be the 15th competitive meeting between the two sides and Pools have the edge having won seven of the previous contests.

However, The Daggers have had the better of it in more

recent times, running out winners in three of the last four encounters –

including their 3-1 success at Victoria Road earlier this season.

On The Whistle

Peter Gibbons will be the man in charge for Saturday's encounter with The Daggers at Victoria Park in what will be his second Pools game of the season.

The officials also saw us play out a goalless draw with

Chorley during the opening month of the campaign, while he's also refereed us against

Braintree Town last term and against Maidstone United in 2017/18.

Gibbons has presided over six National League games so farduring 2019/20 and has shown red cards in each of his last two outings.
