Fraser Kerr has admitted that Pools need to be more ruthless
during their good spells in games after they were undone at Halifax Town on
Craig Hignett's men were arguably the better side in possession
during The Shay Stadium contest but the cutting edge belonged to the hosts who
continued their perfect start to the season to go top of the table.Defender Kerr says that getting the first goal can obviously
make a massive difference in games and wants Pools to show a more ruthless
streak as they move forward.“We're disappointed and frustrated,” Kerr told Pools TV.
“I think everybody is, including the fans – we could see how
much it meant to the fans at the end and everyone in the dressing room is
hurting so we want to get that first win under our belts.“We controlled the first half but we went in at 0-0 and I
think we need to try and take advantage when we're on top in a game, make sure
we're clinical and get that goal.“They ended up scoring on a breakaway and then it's a bit
more backs to the wall and we have to start chasing the game so it's
frustrating.”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04A7PKlb8NI
The Scotsman conceded that defeat in the opening two games
of the campaign is even harder to take given the excitement and optimism that
surrounded the Club during the summer. However, he has been in the game long enough to know not to
get too downhearted so early in the season and is confident that things will
come good for the Club this term.“It's a long old season but the sooner you can start winninggames the better.
“We feel we have a talented squad that can really do
something this season so that makes it even more frustrating that we've got off
to this bad start.“Only we can turn it around so we'll stick together, look to the game on Saturday and try to put in a performance that gets us the result as well.”
