We Need To Keep This Going - Kioso

31 August 2019

Peter Kioso smashed home the winning goal in the 2-1 triumph at Torquay United on Saturday and then insisted Pools must keep up the momentum.

The defender's first of the season was a special effort as he galloped forward on to Gime Toure's pass to lash an unstoppable drive in to the net.

Afterwards he admitted that he and his teammates were delighted with the victory - their second in a row - but said there is a hunger to keep on going.

"We can't get ahead of ourselves," Kioso told Pools TV.

"We've got two wins - and today was a very good one - so let's be happy for today but tomorrow we rest up, Monday we go again and Tuesday we have the game.

"We can't afford to get ahead of ourselves, we just have to look to the next challenge and we know it won't be an easy one."

Kioso was thrilled with his 80th-minute winner at Plainmoor and revealed that he had told Toure during half-time to keep looking for his overlapping run.

"I always work on that with Gime," he told us.

"I said to him in the changing rooms at half-time that I am always going to be making that run so as long as you're looking up for me just slide me in.

"The first thing in my head was that I wouldn't get a better chance in the game and luckily it's ended up in the back of the net.

"I could hit that another fifteen times and it's not going in! Well, maybe I will give myself one and say fourteen out of fifteen!

"I am just happy to contribute the winning goal and most importantly we got the three points."
