We Deserved To Win The Game - Hignett

14 August 2019

Craig Hignett was left frustrated after seeing his side forced

to settle for a point against AFC Fylde despite holding a two-goal lead at

Victoria Park on Tuesday night.

Two stunning strikes from former Fylde front man Gime Toure

put Pools in the driving seat but Hignett and the crowd were left stunned as

the visitors scored twice in as many minutes to salvage a draw.

“They're a really good side who keep the ball well but ourgameplan worked to a tee,” Hignett told Pools TV.

“They were two great finishes from Gime but, if I am being

critical, we needed to be more clinical because we had loads of chances where

we got in but didn't pick the right pass.

“It's two points dropped really. As much as they had a lot

of the ball, we've created all the best chances so it's disappointing but there

are things to build on.

“It's the worst thing for a manager because I feel like we

deserved to win the game; the lads had a right good go but we couldn't quite

get over the line and get the three points.

“We will learn from it though. We have to just kill the game

and be more clinical but the little things are costing us and every mistake we

make is being punished.

“We had to patch it up and we had to change the system but

there were still lads playing tonight who were really struggling so a mention

needs to go to them for getting through it.”
