We Created So Many Chances - Hignett

31 August 2019

Craig Hignett felt his side were good value for their victory

at Torquay United on Saturday but admitted the players had to dig in for the

result.

Goals from Jason Kennedy and Peter Kioso did the damage for

Pools at Plainmoor as a second consecutive victory moved them ninth in the National

League table.

Hignett also paid tribute to the 226 Pools fans who embarked

on the epic 330-mile round trip to support the team on the English Riviera on

Saturday.

“I'm absolutely delighted for the lads,” Hignett told PoolsTV.

“It was probably a game of two halves because first half we

were very good and could have been two or three up but in the second half they

were excellent and we had a tough spell in the game.

“It was all hands to the pump and we had to stand up and be

counted so to come through that and then do what we did at the end was great

because we got stronger and better.

“It was a great goal from Peter to win it and on reflection

of the whole game I thought we deserved to win it because we made so many

chances.

“Their keeper made so many good saves today – the one from

Fraser Kerr was brilliant – so it was going to take something special to beat

him and we just had to keep plugging away.

“The following we had was frightening. The scenes at the end are what you want – there won't be many teams come here and get the result so I am delighted for the fans they can go home happy.”
