Craig Hignett has challenged his players to find the
consistency to compete for National League glory as they prepare to get the new
Eight new signings have arrived at Victoria Park during the
summer months and the Pools boss now has some real strength to call upon during
what he is expecting to be another long and gruelling campaign.Ahead of this weekend's opener against Sutton, Hignett has
insisted that every member of his squad will play their part and they must work
together to achieve their goals during 2019/20.“There is a real buzz about the place and I think we justwant to get it started now,” he told Pools TV.
“I'm delighted with the way pre-season has gone – we did our
business early which gave us a long time to work with this group of players and
integrate the new signings.“We've brought some really good players in to the squad and
it's the healthiest it's ever been so there will be some disappointed lads not
in the starting eleven on Saturday.“Whilst I want them to be disappointed they're not playing,
I don't want them to be disruptive – we have to be in this together and
everyone is on board with that, they know it's a squad game.“We've got a long and tough season ahead now and I'm sure
there will be some highs and some lows but we'll approach it very level all the
way through.“We won't get carried away when we win, just like we won't get too down when we lose – and it's often the team who is the most consistent and can handle that which does really well in the league.
“As staff, we're excited and we want the season to start because we feel like we have got a really good group of players here who, if they put their minds to it, can do something this year.”
