Hartlepool United v AFC Fylde
National League
Tuesday 13th August 2019, 7.45pm
Victoria Park
In Opposition
AFC Fylde have made an encouraging start to the new campaign having won two of their three games so far to sit among the early pace-setters in the formative National League table.
Dave Challinor's men seem to have shrugged off any lingering
disappointment at defeat in last term's Play-Off Final and look likely to be
one of the main contenders for promotion again in 2019/20.The Coasters have been able to add further strength to their
squad with a number of summer signings to give Challinor a little more depth in
his quest to deliver EFL football to the ambitious Mill Farm outfit.Victory at Aldershot Town on the opening day of the season
was followed-up by a frustrating goalless draw at home to Chorley but a Danny
Rowe penalty got Fylde back on course against Ebbsfleet United at the weekend. One To Watch
It probably goes without saying that Pools will need to keep tabs on dangerous front man Danny Rowe if they want to enjoy victory over AFC Fylde on Tuesday night.
The Coasters' legendary striker has scored in three of his
side's four games against Pools and has already found the net twice in the new
campaign though both were from the penalty spot.A local lad who is a firm favourite with Fylde fans, Rowe's
goals helped them seal promotion from National League North and now have them
knocking on the door for a spot in the EFL.Head To Head
Pools will be looking for their first-ever win over AFC Fylde on Tuesday evening in what will be the fifth competitive meeting between the two clubs.
The Coasters completed a National League double over Pools
last term, complementing a 2-1 triumph at The Vic in November with a 4-2
success on a windswept night in March.Pools' best effort so far is a 3-3 draw in which Jake
Cassidy and Devante Rodney scored very late goals to rescue an unlikely point
after the team had been trailing 3-1.Last Meeting
