Luke Molyneux is facing around three months on the sidelinesafter underoing surgery to repair his injured ankle on Friday.
The winger was injured during a pre-season friendly at York
City but, when the problem didn't settle down as quickly as expected, he was
sent for an MRI scan which uncovered an issue. After discussions with a specialist, it was decided that
surgery was the best option and, while the operation appears to have been a complete
success, the damage was more significant than had been hoped.Molyneux will now begin a rehabilitation programme with the Club's
medical staff but is not expected to be ready for a return to competition
action for at least ten to twelve weeks.“Obviously we're disappointed to be missing Luke but the
important thing now is that he has had the operation and can focus on getting
back to full fitness,” said boss Craig Hignett.“It's been so unlucky for him to pick up the injury the way
he did but we'll make sure he gets the best possible treatment and will get him
back as quickly and as safely as we can.”
