Craig Hignett is set to feature in a special documentary called ‘The Gaffer' on Wednesday night as BT Sport lift the lid on what it's like to be a football manager.
The Pools chief was one of six National League bosses who opened their doors to cameras towards the end of the 2018/19 campaign – and now fans will get an inside view on life at the Club.
The 90-minute documentary – which will be aired at 10.45pm on BT Sport on Wednesday night – covers the highs and lows of football management but also explores the personalities of the men prowling the touchlines.
“I've forever been fascinated by football managers,” explained Director, Ben Lowe.
“The pressure is relentless and it can be a brutal experience, with a low of supporters forgetting they are also human beings.
“What unites them is their ambition and bravery, knowing the likelihood of ‘failure' is so high.
“The National League has brilliant personalities and it was incredible to properly experience their world.”
Pools boss Hignett was filmed in the build-up to our game against FC Halifax Town on Good Friday, with cameras given access at the Club's training ground and to the changing rooms on matchday.
“Hopefully it gives fans a different perspective on what it is to be a football manager and a bit of an insight in to life in the National League and at a club like Pools,” he told us.
“Everyone involved was really professional in the way they went about it and, having had a sneak preview of some of the footage already, I am really looking forward to seeing the final version.”
As well as Hignett, the documentary also features Harrogate Town's Simon Weaver, Bromley's Neil Smith, Eastleigh's Ben Strevens and John Still and Hakan Hayrettin at Maidstone United.
