Brian Honour can't wait to get back behind the microphone
this weekend as he joins us for our re-launched matchday commentary service
We've replaced Pools PlayerHD with Pools TV for 2019/20 and
as part of the revamp we're going to be offering fans all over the world to
chance to listen to live commentary of every game for FREE!And we're delighted to confirm that Pools legend Honour will
once again form part of our commentary team for home games, sitting alongside
Mark Simpson for full live online coverage.“I have really enjoyed doing the commentary and getting
involved in the media side of things,” said Honour, who has been our regular
summariser since 2012.“I love mixing with everyone at the game and chatting about
Pools with the likes of Eddie Kyle, the PA Announcer Greig Darby, Roy Kelly,
Nick Loughlin and the rest of my press box colleagues.“I always try to be as honest as possible without being too
blunt but Mark and I have our own unique way of relaying the action because we
really care about what's happening on the pitch.“I still get a load of people who want to talk to me about
the Exeter game when we stayed up because of the passion in that commentary –
that's because we love the Club.“Maybe sometimes we get too upset when we lose or too
excited when we win but we both wear our hearts on our sleeves and I don't feel
ashamed about it – in fact I hope it makes for good listening.“The fact it's going to be free for the fans this season too
is great news so hopefully those who aren't lucky enough to be at the game can
join us for a bit of craic on a Saturday and really get connected with the
Club.”Honour has been at The Vic for a couple of the pre-season
friendlies to cast his eye over the Pools' class of 2019/20 and he is looking
forward to what he hopes will be positive campaign.He is enthused by the quality of player brought in by boss
Craig Hignett since the end of last term and is certain Pools will prove a bigger
threat than they have done in the previous two seasons.“I'm feeling really positive – I think we've signed some
cracking players,” admitted Honour, who scored 36 goals in 384 appearances for
the Club between 1985 and 1994.“I know I'm always ‘Mr Optimistic' in pre-season and every
year I think we'll win the play-offs and get to Round Three of the FA Cup but I
do think things just feel right at the Club right now.“I always think that the team on the pitch reflects the team
off the pitch and it really looks as though we're heading in the right
direction off the field and becoming a really professionally run business
again.“Craig has done a great job over the summer and I think we
have a good blend in the squad now because he's certainly added a bit more
physicality and pace in the right areas.“In the past perhaps we've been guilty of being too neat and
tidy with not enough of the physical side but this squad looks set up to do
both and there are so many permutations with selection.“I'm not putting any pressure on Craig at all but hopefullywe're about to set off on what can be a really memorable season.”
