We Know What Is Needed To Improve - Hignett

22 April 2019

Craig Hignett admitted there was plenty of work ahead for Pools to make the necessary improvements after a below-par performance in defeat at Barrow on Easter Monday.

The Pools boss was less than impressed with the way his players approached the game and said that the standards set by him and the staff simply weren't met at Holker Street.

“I am hugely frustrated,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD.

“We were second best all over, I thought. Fair play to Barrow because they showed more desire, more craft and more guile than us and that's really disappointing.

“When you don't put in the hard yards and you don't put the effort in then you're going to be under pressure, it doesn't matter who you play. We didn't play like we train, that's for sure.

“I thought we were a bit better in the second half, but not much. We had a couple of chances and an appeal for a penalty but if we had come out with a draw we would have got away with it because they were the better side.

“We know were we are and games like this highlight where we are it's up to us to improve us as a squad.

“I know how big this job is and if you get it right then the rewards are there. The following is there and this is a fabulous Club – everyone knows what is needed.”
