Craig Hignett admitted his side had not been at their fluent best during victory over FC Halifax Town but said their will to win proved a key factor.

Pools once again had to come from behind after Devante Rodney celebrated his first return to The Super 6 Stadium with an opening goal for the visitors.

However, Luke James flicked Pools level before the break and then Luke Molyneux rifled in a winner in the second half as Hignett’s men made it three wins from four on home soil.

“I have to give the lads credit to come back from a goal down and win,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD.

“I thought we played some good stuff in the first half but they scored a decent goal which was a good finish from Devante (Rodney).

“But we did well and we got our goal from Luke Molyneux’s ball in to the box and Luke James has been doing that all week in training so we were telling him he was going to score today.

“In the second half it was probably the worst we’ve played with the ball but we showed lots of grit and determination.

“Fair play to Halifax because they stuck at it and kept asking questions, but we kept finding the answers and defended really well.

“The fans stuck with the players because they could see their backs were against the wall at times and then at the final whistle they gave them a good round of applause so I’m pleased.”
