We turn our attentions to Saturday’s action with a full and in-depth preview of Solihull Moors’ visit to The Super 6 Stadium.

Pools v Solihull Moors
National League
Saturday 6th April 2019, 3pm
The Super 6 Stadium

In Opposition
Solihull Moors quickly emerged as one of the leading contenders for promotion from the National League this season, building on an impressive second half of last term.

The Moors were in relegation danger after a shocking start to 2017/18 but Mark Yates led them on to a terrific run of form and they carried that on in to the current campaign.

Even the loss of Yates to Macclesfield Town during the summer didn’t knock the West Midlands outfit off course and Tim Flowers has made a seamless transition in the Manager’s role this term.

They’re without a win in three coming in to Saturday’s game but they remain just a point behind leaders Leyton Orient and are still well and truly in the race for the title.

New ownership has helped push the club on to the next level and as well as improving on the pitch, they’re also investing in their facilities as they aim to make it to the EFL for the first time in their history.

Star Player
Jamey Osborne is the creative spark in the middle of the park for Solihull Moors and will need well marshalling when they visit The Super 6 Stadium on Saturday.

The 26-year-old has scored four times for The Moors so far this season but has excellent technical ability on the ball and is always positive when in possession.

Having spent 2017 with Grimsby Town, it was a massive boost for Moors fans when Osborne opted to return to Damson Park last Christmas and he’s been a core part of their promotion charge.

Head To Head
Saturday’s game will be only the fourth competitive meeting between the two sides and Pools have the edge having won two of the three previous encounters.

A strange quirk of the head-to-head record so far is that all three games between the sides have been won by the away team.

Pools won 1-0 at Damson Park back in September when Liam Noble’s second half curler was enough to claim three points against ten-man Moors.

Referee
Experienced official David Rock is the man who will take charge of our contest against Solihull Moors at The Super 6 Stadium this weekend.

It will be the third time he’s officiated a Pools fixture but the first time he’s visited us on home soil, having previously overseen our games at Torquay United in October 2017 and Sutton United last April.

Rock has been on the National League’s list of referees since the start of 2014/15 and his most recent outing came at York Road two weeks ago when he watched Maidenhead United defeat Havant & Waterlooville 2-0.
