Pools boss Matthew Bates admitted his side were below-par during Saturday’s draw with Aldershot Town at The Super 6 Stadium.
Bates pulled no punches about the performance but he was pleased that they dug in to claim a point and extend their run to just one defeat in eleven games.
“I just don’t think we got going today,” he told Pools PlayerHD.
“We went in at half-time 1-0 up but I was still disappointed with the first half performance and that carried on in to the second half.
“Once they scored they were the ones who were attacking us and that shouldn’t be happening at home so we have to just get back down to work next week and focus on Boreham Wood.
“We have dropped too many points from winning positions and that has to change if we want to get to where we think we should be.
“Individually and as a team we were below-par and that’s disappointing but we didn’t lose the game, which was important – and that’s one defeat in eleven games now.
“It’s difficult when you do these post-match interviews because you’re always concentrating solely on what’s happened in the last hour and a half – but when you reflect on it, we’re eighth in the table and just six points off the top.”
