In Opposition
It’s been a trying start to the season for Aldershot Town boss Gary Waddock who was forced to reinvent his squad during the summer after some high-profile departures at the end of last term.

The Shots have been play-off qualifiers in the last two seasons but now have some ground to make up if they want to make it three in a row after taking just 13 points from their opening 13 games.

Away from home has been a particular struggle for Waddock’s men – they’ve lost all six of their outings on the road, which equals the amount of away defeats they suffered during the whole of last term.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom. Key front man Scott Rendell is on his way back from a hamstring problem and Tuesday’s performance against Maidstone United was much-improved.

They may have lost 1-0 to The Stones but all reports indicate it was a real smash and grab from the visitors and if The Shots can maintain that sort of standard they will surely soon be climbing the table.

Star Player
Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong has impressed since earning a contract at Aldershot Town during the summer following a pre-season trial.

Having been released by Crystal Palace at the end of last season, the 21-year-old winger’s direct style has been a big hit with supporters at The EBB Stadium so far.

He scored his first senior goals in the win over Sutton United last month but his main strength is providing chances for others so Pools will need to cut off this supply line on Saturday.

Head To Head
Saturday’s game will be the 59th competitive meeting between the two clubs and it’s Aldershot who have the edge historically having won 27 times in comparison to Pools’ 19 triumphs.

Pools will be aiming to avenge last season when The Shots completed the double over them, winning 2-1 at The EBB Stadium in March having enjoyed a 2-0 win at The Vic in November.

One thing’s for sure, the fixture is usually reasonably good on the entertainment front – there has never been a goalless draw between the two teams.
