Matthew Bates wants more joy on the road this weekend as Pools go in search of a fourth successive away win then they make the trip to FC Halifax Town.
The Pools has seen his side enjoy plenty of joy on their travels, losing just once away from home since taking caretaker charge back in March.
Bates puts their impressive form away from The Super 6 Stadium down to a number of factors but knows the record will be tested as they embark on back-to-back away assignments at Halifax and Salford City.
“I think you have to be organised when you go away from home,” he told Pools PlayerHD.
“We do a lot of work on that and our shape because we know we won’t have the ball as much so it’s important you’re good out of possession and we have been.
“We have been competitive away from home and now we have two tough tests coming up – but we see them both as opportunities to go and get points.
“The fans are always a massive help. Our following is very loud and that certainly gives the players a boost when you’ve got the fans singing so it’s not just the staff and players who can take credit – the fans definitely can too.”
Pools are set to enjoy the backing of another bumper following at The Shay Stadium this weekend with up to 1,000 set to descend on West Yorkshire to support the team.
Bates knows that the backing will be needed against The Shaymen who have enjoyed a strong start to the season and have dropped just two points on their own patch so far in 2018/19.
“We’ve watched Halifax and they’re very organised too,” he explained.
“I know the manager and he’s got them going so we know it will be tough and we go in to every game respecting the opposition.
“But we’ve been working on a couple of things we think we can exploit and that’s what we’ll be trying to do.”
