Saturday 27th October, 3pm

In Opposition
Sutton United emerged as one of the dark horses for promotion last term with their remarkable run of form seeing them eventually finish third in the National League table.

However, they fell short of a Wembley final when they were beaten by Boreham Wood in the semi-final though the defeat has done little to curtail the massive progress made at Gander Green Lane in recent years.

Under Paul Doswell – who has now been at the helm for more than a decade – The U’s won the Ryman’s League title in 2010/11 before graduating to be National League North champions in 2016.

The upward curve hasn’t ended there and, after just one season to find their feet and consolidate in the fifth tier, Sutton were up there fighting it out for a place in the EFL last term.

Few would bet against them having a big say this time around too, with their powerful brand of often quite direct football proving a handful for many in the National League.

Star Player
Craig Eastmond has been showing his class in the Sutton midfield once again this season and has already got forward to score four goals in 14 National League starts.

The former Arsenal youngster is a key player for The U’s, is good on the ball, can set up attacks and is a real threat in the final third so he will need to be kept under wraps on Saturday.

Eastmond was injured during Sutton’s 1-1 draw at The Vic last term so he will hope to make better memories in his latest trip to Hartlepool.

Head To Head
Saturday’s game will be just the third competitive meeting between the two clubs – the first two games ended in 1-1 draws last season.

Josh Hawkes cancelled out Ross Lafayette’s opener when Pools travelled to Gander Green Lane in April, while Tommy Wright scored late for The U’s on their first visit to The Vic last October after Rhys Oates had scored the opener.

Referee
