Pools boss Matthew Bates says his side’s FA Cup First Round Proper trip to Gillingham is a game they can look forward to.
Bates saw his team book their place in the next stage of the competition with a 1-0 win over Kidsgrove Athletic at The Super 6 Stadium on Saturday.
Their reward for that victory is a trip to Priestfield Stadium to face The Gills, who currently lie in 19th place in League One.
“It will be good to test ourselves against a League One side,” Bates told us.
“We’ve been pretty solid away from home so far this season so we can go there with confidence and hopefully put on a good display.
“There’s no doubt we will have to be at our best on the day because they’re two divisions above us but we have plenty of experience and it’s a game we will look forward to.
“The FA Cup is a special competition and we want to go as far as we can in it this season so we will prepare well for the game and go there knowing we have the ability to cause an upset.”
The tie is set to take place on Saturday 10th November.
