Pools Youth Team take centre-stage at The Super 6 Stadium on Tuesday night when they host Chester in the FA Youth Cup (7pm kick-off).

Having dispensed with Hebburn Town in the last stage, Ian McGuckin’s youngsters have been handed another home tie in the final qualifying round of the competition.

Pools knocked Chester out of the competition in Round One last term and will go in to Tuesday night’s encounter high on confidence after Saturday’s brilliant away win at Mansfield Town.

“We know this is going to be a battle for us,” McGuckin told us.

“In lots of ways Saturday’s game at Mansfield was an ideal warm-up for us because that was a similar kind of test to the one we can expect from Chester.

“I am sure they will come here feeling like they have something to prove after we knocked them out last year so our lads have to be professional and we have to be ready.

“We’re pleased we got another home draw – at this stage of the competition that’s crucial so we have to try and make the most of that.

“I felt like there were a few nerves from the players when we played Hebburn at The Super 6 Stadium so hopefully getting that out of the way will help us against Chester.”

McGuckin has a fully-fit squad to choose from for the game.

Admission prices are just £2 for adults and £1 for concessions so make sure you come along to support the youngsters in action on home soil tonight.
