Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation are delighted to announce that thanks to the backing of the Premier League Charitable Fund we will able to continue running the PL Girls Football Project until 31st August 2019.
Following the success of our ‘Mam’s Football’ in Norton we are now returning home to Hartlepool where, from Thursday 8th November, we will be holding free weekly ladies football training, with two sessions available; one for 14 – 18 years and another for over 25s.
“Hartlepool Vics” will run at the Avondale Centre at Dyke House Academy from 6pm-7pm and is a great opportunity to get fit and have fun.
We spoke with Nicola who attended our over 25s sessions in Norton last season:
“My name's Nicola and I'm 42 years old. I've always enjoyed watching and playing football, unfortunately when I was younger there was never really any teams to join until I was in my early 20s when I found and joined a new local ladies team. We played in a local league, I played 2 seasons before I stopped to have a baby.
“I always fancied getting back into it but thought I was too old/unfit so when I saw the advert for the over 25s ladies football sessions I thought it was a great opportunity.
“The sessions have been great, the coach was welcoming and enthusiastic so I felt comfortable being a bit rusty and unfit, plus it was great making new friends. It's a perfect way for me to get some exercise and it's even better that I get to play football, and at a capable level. The coach was talking about setting up some games with another group which I'm looking forward to playing with my new teammates!”
Nikki is a fantastic member of our over 25s football group. She has a lot of talent for the game and it’s great that we have been able to provide her with a platform to resume playing the game she loves. We want to open this opportunity up to ladies in Hartlepool as well.
Whether your boots have been hung up for a while or you’ve never played before, we have a fantastic coach and are open to all ladies over the age of 25 with little or no recent footballing experience.
Sessions for 14-18 year old girls will also commence on the same date and venue at 5pm-6pm and this is the perfect chance for those who currently do not play for a team but would love to try football in a relaxed environment.
The following sessions will run at the Avondale Centre, Dyke House every Thursday from 8th November onwards:
5pm – 6pm 14-18
6pm – 7pm – Over 25s
At Norton Sports Complex the ever popular girls’ sessions are now running again on Monday evenings:
11-14 year olds 6pm-7pm
15-18 year olds 7:15pm-8:15pm
