Pools Youth Team are back in action on Saturday morning when they host Doncaster Rovers at Welfare Park in Blackhall Colliery (11am kick-off).

Ian McGuckin’s youngsters have been without a fixture since their frustrating 2-0 defeat to Chesterfield a fortnight ago but could go top of the table with a win this weekend.

Pools are third, tucked in just a point behind Saturday’s second-placed opponents Doncaster and both teams will be hoping for a result which will help them put further pressure on leaders Grimsby Town.

“The league is tight,” admitted McGuckin.

“There isn’t must between the top and the middle of the table but I have seen Doncaster play a few times now and they’re a handful so we will need to be at our best on Saturday.

“We have had a little gap in games which worked in our favour really because we had a few niggles in the squad so it’s given the lads some extra time to recover.

“As always, we’re looking forward to getting back on the pitch though, especially on our home ground so hopefully we can get a strong performance and a good result.”

Brook Miller is back in contention after recovering from a hamstring injury but Liam Pritchard remains sidelined with a broken collarbone and Joe Jackson is still suspended.

Kick-off at Welfare Park is 11am and entry is free for all supporters if you want to go along and support our young players in action on Saturday morning.
