We turn our attentions to Tuesday evening’s action with a full and in-depth preview of AFC Fylde’s visit to The Super 6 Stadium.

Pools v AFC Fylde
National League
Tuesday 27th November, 7.45pm
The Super 6 Stadium

In Opposition
Having impressed during their first season at National League level last term, AFC Fylde have emerged as serious promotion candidates once again in 2018/19.

The Coasters have enjoyed an astonishing few years, winning promotion twice in four years to find themselves in the top tier of non-league football – but you sense their story doesn’t finish there.

They were qualifiers for the play-offs last season only to be beaten by Boreham Wood but they have put together a strong first half to the new campaign and are once again inside the top seven.

Dave Challinor has done an exceptional job during his seven years at the helm and their solid defensive base is providing the perfect platform as they look to plot a route in to the EFL for the first time.

Star Player
Local lad Danny Rowe is a huge crowd favourite at Mill Farm – and that’s hardly a surprise given his goals return since joining AFC Fylde in 2014.

The 28-year-old has already helped himself to 13 goals this term, including five in his last five games, so he is an obvious threat ahead of this evening’s meeting at The Super 6 Stadium.

Rowe scored 24 times in all competitions during 2017/18 but the way he has set about his task this season means he’s got a real chance of eclipsing that as he looks to fire AFC Fylde in to the EFL.

Head To Head
Tuesday night’s game will be just the third competitive meeting between the sides after they shared a division for the very first time last season.

The Coasters won 2-0 on their first visit to Hartlepool back in the opening month of last term, the goals coming from Henry Jones and Danny Rowe as Pools continued to stutter.

And they looked on course to complete a National League double when they were leading 3-1 with just two minutes left at Mill Farm in March – only for spectacular goals from Jake Cassidy and Devante Rodney to rescue a share of the spoils for Pools.

James Oldham will be in charge of a Pools game for the first time when he’s the man on the whistle for Tuesday’s encounter with AFC Fylde.

Still in his first year on the National League’s list of referees, Oldham has overseen eight games so far this season at this level.

His most recent outing was at the end of last month when he was the man in the middle for Eastleigh’s 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient at Silverlake Stadium.
