Pools Youth Team will look to complete a quick-fire double over Rotherham United on Wednesday afternoon when they host The Millers for the second time this week (1pm kick-off).

Ian McGuckin’s side welcome their South Yorkshire opponents back to Blackhall’s Welfare Park in their final group game of the EFL Youth Alliance League Cup.

And having beaten them 2-0 in the Youth Alliance League at the weekend, McGuckin wants his players to perform again even though they have nothing to play for in the competition.

“We can’t progress in the League Cup but we will still approach the game in the right way,” he insisted.

“It’s quite strange the way it’s worked out that we’ve beaten all the teams in our group in the League but then lost to them in the Cup so far – so this is a chance to put that right.

“We have to try and build on the good things we did at the weekend and take that forward now so hopefully we can finish on the right note in the competition.”

The game at Welfare Park kicks-off at 1pm and entry is free for all supporters.
