Hartlepool United Women’s Team are preparing for one of their biggest games of the season as they make the trip to face local rivals and league-leaders Durham Cestria on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

Craig Devon’s outfit will go in to the derby in great form having won three in a row to storm up to second in the North East Regional Women’s Football League Premier Division table.

That sequence of results means there is even more emphasis on Sunday’s Racecourse Ground encounter because Pools have moved within six points of their hosts with a game in hand.

However, Durham boast a perfect record in 2018/19 having won all six of their games so far and scored an astonishing 47 goals, conceding only four.

Pools also fell victim to Durham’s early season strength when they were beaten 7-2 at Grayfields in September but Devon’s team have progressed significantly since then and will be confident of gaining some revenge this weekend.

The game at The Racecourse Ground on Green Lane in Durham kicks-off at 2pm and entry is free for all supporters.
