A local GP is set to recreate a leg of Jeff Stelling’s 2017 charity march this summer when a group of walkers set off from Victoria Park to Darlington in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.
Dr Will Elliott was so moved by participating in the Hartlepool to Darlington stage of Jeff’s walk last year that he wanted to do it all over again – and raise further awareness of the disease which affects over 40,000 men in the UK every year.
The event will set out from The Vic at 8am on Saturday 9th June with the target being to walk through Greatham to the Transporter Bridge and Stockton Rowing Club before heading though Hartburn and on to Darlington RFC by 6pm.
In all, participants will be covering 27 miles in 10 hours, though there are alternative options for those who want to be involved but would prefer to walk a shorter distance.
Costs to take part vary but all include breakfast at The Vic, lunch and refreshments en route and at the end as well as a free March for Men t-shirt to wear during the walk.
In addition to the sponsorship money raised by the individual walkers, all profits from the event will be donated directly to Prostate Cancer UK.
