Work has begun on the Victoria Park playing surface as Dave Brown oversees a summer makeover of his hallowed turf.
The Head Groundsman and his team have once again ensured that Pools have played on one of the best pitches in the division this season and now all efforts are focused on repeating that for next term.
Specialist contractors Premier Pitches arrived at The Vic as soon as the final whistle had gone in Thursday’s Reserve Team game against Mansfield Town to begin the process.
“The top of the pitch will be taken off by them – I guess you could call it a very severe skinhead!” explained Brown.
“Hopefully if it all goes to plan we’ll be able to seed and sand it all by the end of Saturday and then it will just be a case of keeping it damp after that.
“I was pleased with the way the pitch performed last season but there is always room for improvement so we’re starting the work now to make sure we’re in great shape again for pre-season.”
