Pools Youth Team play their penultimate game of the Youth Alliance League season when they travel to face Rotherham United on Saturday (11am kick-off).
Ian McGuckin’s youngsters will be aiming to finish the season strongly but will know they face a challenge against a Millers outfit who currently lie third in the table.
A busy schedule means that the Youth Team play their final game of the campaign on Tuesday at Grimsby Town and McGuckin has eyes on two solid showings.
“We really want to finish well now,” he told us.
“The lads have had plenty of football over the past few weeks but, as I keep saying, they would rather that than training so they will be relishing the last two games.
“It’s going to be tough at Rotherham on Saturday but we will go there with confidence and try to play football the right way – and if we perform to the levels I know we can then we’ll match them.”
McGuckin has a doubt over the fitness of Brook Miller (gashed eye) but Liam Pritchard is back after a virus and a number of Under 16s are set to be given another opportunity to impress this weekend.
The game kicks-off at 11am at Rotherham’s Roundwood Sports Complex on Green Lane and we’ll have a full report here on the Official Website next week.
