Hartlepool United Ladies are back in action on Sunday afternoon when they make the trip to face Wallsend Ladies in the North East Women’s Football League Premier Division (2pm kick-off).

It’s a potentially pivotal weekend in the race for promotion with third-placed Pools going head-to-head with fourth-placed Wallsend, while leaders Durham Cestria host second-placed Norton & Stockton Ancients.

Pools have won their last three games to push themselves in to contention at the top and can underline their promotion credentials with another victory on Tyneside this weekend.

Wallsend were beaten 3-2 when they came to Hartlepool at the start of last month thanks to goals from Jess Dawson (2) and Chelsea Basnett but the visitors showed enough on the day to make boss Andy Stuart aware that Sunday’s return fixture will be a big test.

The game takes place at Kirkley Park in Wallsend with a 2pm kick-off.
