Pools Youth Team return to action this weekend when they host Bradford City in the Youth Alliance League at Blackhall’s Welfare Park (11am kick-off).
Ian McGuckin is set to draft in a number of the Club’s Under-16 players given the majority of his Youth Team squad played for the Reserves in their midweek game against Port Vale.
Pools remain at the foot of the North East table having played several games less than most other teams in the division so the weekend fixture is a chance to claw back some ground.
“It’s going to be a very young side but with that brings an extra enthusiasm hopefully,” McGuckin told us.
“I am looking forward to the game and to seeing how the Under-16s cope with the step up to this level because it’s a chance for them to express themselves.
“We really want to try and finish the season as strongly as possible but the bigger picture is that the experience these young players will get should hopefully benefit them in the future.”
McGuckin will be without Liam Pritchard (hamstring) and Jack Cooper (thigh) while Alex Lawrence is still struggling with a sore ankle so could miss out.
Kick-off is 11am at Welfare Park in Blackhall where entry is free for all supporters.
