We take a closer look at the weekend action with a full and in-depth preview of Pools' first-ever visit to Mill Farm.

AFC Fylde v Hartlepool United
Vanarama National League
Saturday 17th March 2018, 3pm
Mill Farm

In Opposition
After their 4-1 defeat at Tranmere Rovers on Boxing Day, AFC Fylde were sitting 19th in the National League table and closer to the bottom four than the top seven.

They’ve since put together an impressive run of form which has seen them win nine of their last fourteen games – and in the process they’ve emerged as genuine candidates for promotion.

Having won the National League North title at a canter last term, The Coasters are now looking to move up another level and their impressive Mill Farm home is geared up for EFL football.

Dave Challinor’s side are currently eighth in the table and just two points outside the play-off spots but there is a feeling of optimism around the club, particularly following last weekend’s 7-1 mauling of promotion rivals Aldershot Town.

One To Watch
Danny Rowe is most certainly the main AFC Fylde player that Pools will need to keep tabs on this weekend if they want to come away from Mill Farm with reward.

The front man is the top scorer in the National League having blasted an outstanding 22 goals in 37 league appearances so far this term.

A former Fleetwood Town trainee, Rowe has been prolific since signing for The Coasters in 2014 and he warmed-up for the visit of Pools this weekend by firing a hat-trick in the 7-1 destruction of Aldershot Town last Saturday.

Form Guide

Head To Head
There has only been one previous meeting between the sides and it came at The Vic back in August when AFC Fylde ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Henry Jones and Danny Rowe.

Daniel Middleton will take charge of his second Pools fixture this weekend when he presides over our encounter with AFC Fylde at Mill Farm.

Another official in his first season on the National League list of referees, Middleton’s only other Pools’ appointment came in October when he saw us draw 1-1 with Sutton United at The Vic.

He has so far refereed 15 National League games this season, his most recent was the 1-1 draw between Wrexham and FC Halifax Town in which he showed his first red of the season.
