Pools Youth Team return to action this weekend when they host Lincoln City in the Youth Alliance League at the Racecourse in Durham (12noon kick-off).
The recent bad weather has left the pitch unplayable at Blackhall’s Welfare Park so the Club has switched the fixture to the training base on Green Lane in Durham.
Ian McGuckin is delighted that efforts have been made to ensure the game can go ahead as planned after snow and ice have left his youngsters without competitive action in the last couple of weeks.
“The lads are chomping at the bit to get back out on the pitch,” McGuckin told us.
“It will be a tough game against Lincoln but it’s a chance for us to start closing the gap on the teams above us so there’s a real determination in the squad.
“The games are going to be coming thick and fast in the next few weeks so there will be plenty of opportunities for them to impress and hopefully they take the first one on Saturday.”
McGuckin will be boosted by the return of Brook Miller following a groin problem but Jack Cooper remains a doubt with a thigh strain and Alex Lawrence is sidelined through an ankle injury.
Kick-off at the Racecourse in Durham is at 12noon and entry is free.
