We turn our attentions to the weekend action with a full and in-depth preview of Saturday's game at Victoria Park.

Hartlepool United v Boreham Wood
Vanarama National League
Saturday 10th March 2018, 3pm
Victoria Park

In Opposition
Boreham Wood look set to have a big say in the promotion picture this season after playing their way in to the chasing pack at the top of the National League in recent weeks.

Luke Garrard’s men were on the fringes of the play-off places after defeat to Dover Athletic towards the end of January but four wins from five since have pushed them up to fifth place in the table.

The Wood were only promoted to this level in 2014/15 and had to stave off relegation on the final day in their first season before a mid-table finish in their second helped lay the foundations for this term’s promotion push.

The success this season has been based on a very stingy defence which has conceded just 33 goals in the league so far – a record that can only be bettered by Wrexham.

One To Watch
Bruno Andrade has really found his feet since joining Boreham Wood in the summer of 2016 and has been one of their most reliable performers so far this season.

A front man who can also play out wide if required, Andrade has begun to find the net regularly since making the switch to Meadow Park and has 16 goals to his name in the current campaign.

Only AFC Fylde’s Danny Rowe has been more prolific in front of goal at National League level this season so if Pools can keep Andrade quiet this weekend they’ll have taken a huge step towards picking up a result.

Head To Head
November’s goalless draw at Meadow Park was the very first meeting between the two sides.

Peter Wright will be in charge of his second Pools fixture this weekend when he’s the man on the whistle for Boreham Wood’s visit to The Vic.

In to his second season on the National League’s list of referees, Wright’s only previous Pools appointment came on the opening day when he oversaw Dover Athletic’s 1-0 win here.

Ironically, his most recent appointment also involved Dover – he was the man in the middle for their 3-1 defeat at AFC Fylde at the end of February.
