Craig Harrison admitted that the fans deserved a better performance and result than was delivered as Pools fell to defeat against Wrexham in front of a packed house at Victoria Park.
Almost 7,000 were inside The Vic to see the clash with The Dragons but two goals from Harrison’s former TNS striker Scott Quigley were enough to see the visitors take the three points.
“It was very disappointing,” Harrison told Pools PlayerHD.
“Again we gave two terrible goals away at a time when we were on top of the game and we’ve done that quite a few times this season. We’ve just been too soft.
“Wrexham are an experienced and well-organised team and they game-managed from minute one but we knew that was going to happen.
“The support was unbelievable from Hartlepool fans and football fans in general – they deserve all the credit in the world and they deserved a better result than that.
“Confidence is low and there’s a lot going on but we can’t have any excuses and the last thing we can do at the minute is feel sorry for ourselves.
“We need to dust ourselves down; we’ll be in training on Sunday now for a cooldown and some match analysis so we will get organised to ready go and win at Chester because we need to kickstart our season.”
