The special front cover for Saturday’s Matchday Programme has been making waves online after we shared the poignant image across our social media platforms on Thursday evening.
Fans of Middlesbrough have come together behind Pools in recent weeks and snapped up tickets for our weekend game against Wrexham to help move the game towards a sell-out.
As a thank you to Boro fans for their backing, talented Pools fan David Carless drew up this incredible cover design which has been met with huge acclaim online.
The drawing gives a nod to 1986 when Pools helped Boro by allowing them to play their game against Port Vale at Victoria Park when the gates had been locked at Ayresome Park.
“That just gave me shivers, captures everything about the two clubs, absolute quality #UTB #Pools” tweeted Barry Chapman, while James Huskinson added “Very fitting who ever thought of that clearly is top notch UTB!!!”
Carless, an art teacher at English Martyrs and a Season Ticket holder at The Vic added: “Thanks for the opportunity to do this – it will be a proud moment seeing this on Saturday.
We’ll have just under 2,000 on sale to supporters at Saturday’s game after our Matchday Programme partners Print Digital Media agreed to donate 1,200 free of charge.
