Craig Harrison has said that it’s now time for the staff and players to repay the supporters with a strong performance after an astonishing week off the pitch at Victoria Park.
Pools return to National League action on Saturday when they host Wrexham in front of a bumper crowd, swelled by a drive in the town and further afield to support the Club against a backdrop of financial uncertainty.
All home areas of the stadium are now completely sold out, with Middlesbrough fans set to join forces with their Pools counterparts for what is expected to be a memorable afternoon at The Vic.
“Obviously what has happened this week with the Pools fans has been unbelievable and hopefully we can treat them to three points on Saturday,” Harrison told Pools PlayerHD.
“The coming together of rival clubs and Hartlepool fans doing what they’ve been doing leaves you speechless really and quite emotional.
“I knew the fans were special when I first came here but this has proved it – in times of trouble you find out a lot about the character of people and the Hartlepool United fans have more than stood up and been counted.”
Whilst things have developed around the Club, Harrison and his players have maintained their focus and ensured that they’re fully prepared for a return to the pitch for the first time in a fortnight.
They welcome a Wrexham side who sit fourth in the table after thumping Torquay United 4-0 last time out but Harrison says that his squad are ready for the challenge and determined to come out on top.
“Wrexham are very organised and experienced; they have a lot of players who have played plenty of games at National League level and that brings consistency.
“They have kept a lot of clean sheets and don’t concede many because they’re solid defensively but we’re just really looking forward to the game after a good week.
“We can’t wait for 3pm and the whistle to go so that we can go and prove how much all the support this week means to us.”
