The shirt worn by Jordan Hugill when he scored THAT winning goal against Exeter City during Pools’ Great Escape season of 2014/15 is now available in an extra special auction.
Preston North End front man Hugill was on loan at Pools at the end of that campaign and his thunderous finish restored our lead against The Grecians to secure a victory which kept the Club in the Football League.
It was an extraordinary afternoon of drama at The Vic which will live long in the memory and now you can get your hands on a stunning piece of memorabilia from the game.
Big-hearted Hugill contacted staff at The Vic last week to say he was willing to give up the prized shirt he wore that day, which is signed by all the players in the squad for the game.
“It the least I could do,” Hugill told us.
“A club like Hartlepool United is a big deal to North East football and I just wanted to contribute in some way so hopefully the shirt proves popular in the auction.
“It is an amazing souvenir to have but I have the memories of the game and it would mean more to me to know I have done by bit to help the Club.”
Hugill is one of a several former Pools players and staff who have thrown their support behind the Club following news of recent financial struggles.
Last week Nathan Thomas donated one of his match shirts to the cause, while former stars Micky Barron and Ritchie Humphreys were also back at The Vic for a fund-raising talk-in.
