We turn our attentions to the weekend's action with a full and in-depth preview of the trip to Victoria Road.
Dagenham & Redbridge v Hartlepool United
Vanarama National League
Saturday 6th January 2018
Four straight wins as November turned in to December pushed Dagenham & Redbridge up to fifth place in the National League table and just four points from the top.
However, a run of games without a victory since has seen them slip outside the play-off spots and they’ll be looking for their first win in six when Pools visit Victoria Road this weekend.
Boss John Still has thrown caution to the wind this season in his attempts to lead The Daggers back in to the Football League so it’s no surprise to find they are among the top scorers in the division.
Having drawn 0-0 on home turf with Leyton Orient on New Year’s Day, Dagenham will now be hoping to make the most of another two back-to-back games at Victoria Road as they look to move back up the table.
Andre Boucaud is the only outfield player to have started every league game for The Daggers so far this season and his presence in midfield is an important one for John Still’s men.
The 33-year-old as been with Dagenham since 2014 and brings good experience to the ranks having played in the EFL with the likes of Notts County, York City and Peterborough United.
A Trinidad & Tobago international, Boucaud makes things tick for the hosts and is one Pools will need to keep quiet if they want to return home with reward this weekend.
Head To Head
Saturday’s game will be the 11th competitive encounter between the two sides and Pools have the edge having won six of the previous ten meetings.
Pools have won the last three fixtures against The Daggers, including the 1-0 triumph delivered by Jonathan Franks’ brilliant goal at Victoria Park earlier this season.
Games between the sides usually produce goals and usually have a result one way or another – only once have the sides drawn a game and that was back in October 2010.
Sam Purkiss will take charge of his second Pools game this weekend when he is on the whistle for our trip to face Dagenham & Redbridge.
The official – on his first season on the National League list of referees – was also in the middle when we were beaten 3-0 at Ebbsfleet United in November.
Purkiss’ most recent appointment came on New Year’s Day when he oversaw Bromley’s 4-2 win over Ebbsfleet at Hayes Lane.
Mark Simpson will be live on Pools PlayerHD on Saturday to provide Pools fans all over the world with live commentary of our game at Dagenham & Redbridge.
Our coverage on Pools PlayerHD will begin at 2.50pm so if you can’t be at Victoria Road this weekend then make sure you join us to say up to date.
Pools fans will be able to buy their tickets on the turnstiles prior to kick-off at Victoria Road on Saturday.
