Pools Youth Team return to Youth Alliance League action on Saturday when they host Huddersfield Town at Welfare Park in Blackhall Colliery (11am kick-off).
Ian McGuckin’s youngsters will be aiming to bounce back to form after suffering a surprise defeat to Scunthorpe United in last Friday’s opening Youth Alliance League Cup group game.
“The lads were disappointed last week but we conceded two quick goals and it left us a bit shell-shocked to be honest,” he explained.
“We’ve spoken about that and has a really productive week in training so the lads are looking forward to getting back at it.
“It’s new opposition for us with Huddersfield just joining the league so that adds a little bit extra when it’s not a side we’ve been used to coming up against.
“It will be interesting to see the standard Huddersfield are at given they’re a Premier League club and it is a good one for us to test ourselves with.”
McGuckin has a fully-fit squad to choose from after Joe Jackson shook off the illness which kept him out of last week’s game to return to training.
Entry at Welfare Park is free to all supporters so get along to back the lads on Saturday morning if you can make it.
We’ll have a full report here on the Official Website on Monday.
