We turn our attentions to the weekend action with a full and in-depth preview of our trip to The Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Dagenham & Redbridge v Pools
National League
Saturday 25th August 2018, 3pm
The Chigwell Construction Stadium

In Opposition
Dagenham & Redbridge turned to Peter Taylor as their new boss during the summer after John Still returned to the helm of relegated Barnet.

Taylor’s men have started the season slowly and have just one point on the board ahead of Pools’ visit to The Chigwell Construction Stadium this weekend.

That point came courtesy of a 2-2 draw with Maidenhead United a fortnight ago but they have already tasted defeat four times in the new campaign.

Financial uncertainty behind the scenes has made the challenge even tougher for Taylor but he will hope to kick-start their season at Pools’ expense on Saturday.

Star Player
Former Pools forward Tomi Adeloye won a contract with The Daggers earlier this month and scored his first goal for the club during last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at FC Halifax Town.

The 22-year-old former Stoke City trainee made nine appearances for Pools last season before financial troubles meant his short-term contract wasn’t renewed at the end of January.

Instead, Adeloye finished the season with Whitehawk before spending time training with Wycombe Wanderers prior to clinching his move to Dagenham & Redbridge.

Head To Head
Saturday’s game will be the 12th competitive meeting between the two sides and Pools have had the best of it in the past having won six in comparison to Dagenham’s four.

Pools ran out 1-0 winners when The Daggers came to the North-East last term thanks to Jonathan Franks’ goal but came unstuck when they lost 4-2 in the return fixture at Victoria Road.

Pools did win at Dagenham as recently as 2015 when Billy Paynter’s header was enough to secure all three points, while new signing Luke Williams scored in a 2-0 triumph there in 2014.

Referee
Sam Allison will take charge of his first-ever Pools game this weekend when he’s on the whistle for our trip to Dagenham & Redbridge.

The official is now in to his third season on the National League’s list of referees and his most recent appointment was at Eastleigh last Tuesday as the Spitfires defeated Bromley 1-0.
