We turn our attentions to Tuesday night's action with a full and in-depth preview of Pools' first-ever trip to Cressing Road.

Braintree Town v Pools
National League
Tuesday 14th August 2018, 7.45pm
Cressing Road

In Opposition
Braintree Town changed their manager last summer following relegation from the National League and it had the desired effect as Brad Quinton led them to promotion at the first attempt.

A former Town star with over 500 appearances for The Iron under his belt, Quinton underlined his hero status at Cressing Road by overseeing a play-off triumph to secure their instant return to the fifth tier.

A stunning and ultimately glorious finish to last term hasn’t rolled over in to 2018/19 so far and they’re still looking for their first win of the season having picked up only one point so far.

However, they showed great spirit during their midweek defeat to much-fancied Chesterfield so Pools know that they can’t take anything for granted as they head South.

Star Player
Lyle Della-Verde is one of Braintree’s summer recruits and has started every game so far this season following his switch from Dartford.

Now 23, the winger came through the ranks at Fulham but has experience of playing in the EFL with both Fleetwood Town and Crawley Town.

More recently he was on the books of Welling United and Concord Rangers before joining Dartford last summer and almost helping them to promotion back to the National League last term.

Head To Head
Tuesday evening’s game will be the first time the two sides have ever met in competitive action.

Peter Gibbons will take charge of his second Pools game on Tuesday night when he’s the man on the whistle for our trip to Braintree Town.

His only previous Pools engagement came in September when he presided over our 3-1 win against Maidstone United at The Super 6 Stadium.

Now in to his second season on the National League’s list of referees, Gibbons’ most recent appointment came when he saw Chesterfield defeat Aldershot Town 3-0 last Tuesday.
