Pools Youth Team kick-off their new Youth Alliance League season on Saturday when they host Burton Albion at Welfare Park in Blackhall Colliery (12noon kick-off).
Ian McGuckin’s youngsters have enjoyed an encouraging pre-season campaign and will hope to take their unbeaten run in to the new term when it begins this weekend.
Last year the Youth Team prospered in the cup competitions while struggling in the league but this time around the focus is on making sure they’re at the best on all fronts.
“We’re feeling confident about the new season after a very positive pre-season,” McGuckin explained.
“The lads have done a lot of work and they’re determined to get going quickly now the competitive fixtures have arrived but Burton will offer us a stiff test.”
Pools have an almost fully-fit squad for the season-opener against The Brewers; only Aaron Willoughby is missing as he continues to nurse a groin problem.
We’ll have a full report and reaction here on the Official Website on Monday.
