Young Pools defender Aaron Cunningham has joined Blyth Spartans on a half-season loan deal.
The versatile 20-year-old, who is also comfortable slotting in to midfield, will look to gain further senior experience during his stay at Croft Park.
Cunningham suffered with an ankle problem last season but is now back to fitness and boss Matthew Bates was keen for him to get some senior football under his belt.
A graduate of the Club’s Academy, Cunningham was handed his First Team debut against Torquay United at the end of last season though it was marred when he was shown a very harsh red card.
The youngster will now link-up with the National League North outfit until the New Year though he will have to wait to make his debut as he completes a three-game suspension for his sending-off.
“Aaron has a lot of ability and a real willingness to win,” explained Bates.
“It will be good for his development to get out and hopefully play some regular football and we will be keeping a close eye on how he gets on with Blyth, which is a really good club.”
